Frugal Halloween Crafts for Kids: Halloween Jug Lanterns

Our Halloween Crafts for Kids week continues…

Here is a great upcycle project for Halloween. This makes great use out of those old Milk and Water Jugs!

What you will need:

Clean Milk &/or Water Jugs (labels removed)

Permanent Marker

Scissors or Knife

Battery operated tea light candles

Step One:

Have your adorable assistant clean up your milk jugs. You want to rinse out the inside with a little soap and water and remove the labels from the outside.

Step Two:

Allow your jugs to dry. Have your assistant design faces for the jugs with paper and pencil. An adult will actually want to draw the face on the jug because that requires a permanent marker.

Step Three:

Allow the permanent marker to dry. Then an adult only should carefully cut out a section in the back of the jug and insert a battery operated tea light candle.

(Please note: actual tea light candles are too hot and can melt your jug. It is also a fire risk. So do not use real candles.)

Your adorable Halloween Jug Lanterns are ready for display. You will get more “light-up” with translucent jugs than white jugs….both are cute!

Remember: All craft projects should be supervised by an adult and should be age appropriate for the child. Adults should do any portion of the craft that involves using scissors or knifes.
