DIY Sidewalk Paint

Entertaining small children for long periods of time can be challenging…especially on a budget. Yesterday we found a recipe for homemade sidewalk paint over on A Little Bit Funky…so we gave it a try

You will need:

Cornstarch

Water

Food Coloring

(Bowls & spoons)

Directions:

Mix the Cornstarch and water. The ratio is 2:1 but I didn’t measure. I just kept mixing in until I liked the consistency of the paint.

You want the paint thick enough to stay on the brush, but thinner than regular paint.

I just poured the cornstarch and water mixture into separate bowls and added in the food colors.

I then added some of each color to plastic ice trays. I find these make pretty good palettes for the kiddos and grabbed a few paint brushes.

I took the boys and paint outside to the backyard and turned them loose. (it was just after breakfast and they were still in their pjs)

The paint actually has a pretty neat texture…. once the paint is dry…kind of soft. When they were finished I just used the water hose and washed off the area. As always if you are particular about a surface, you may want to test first.
