My kids are ages two and almost five…and my almost five year old LOVES to bake, craft, cook….anything of that nature. (We usually save our “projects” for when little brother naps)
This week Liam and I tried out the Glee Gum’s Make Your Own Chocolate Kit…. and it was a lot of fun!
About the Glee Candy Kits:
Available in Make Your Own Chocolate, Make Your Own Chewing Gum, and Make Your Own Gummies, these activity kits are all-natural, educational, and eco-friendly. With pre-packaged ingredients and easy-to-follow instructions, everyone aged 8 and up gets a real kick out of making candy from scratch. Focusing on the history behind and the origin of these candies, each kit is designed to captivate your interest, connect you to the global community, and create something yummy to eat in the process! (You can view the kits here)
My Review
The Make Your Own Chocolate kit includes all the separate “natural” components to make chocolate…
….Cocoa Butter, Cocoa powder, Confectioners Sugar…..
Next, you will need to provide a helpful assistant (well it is not required, but makes it way more fun)…you will want an adult present… because the mixture gets quite hot…(you can choose the microwave or stove top option)
The things you will need that are not in your kit…a microwave-safe bowl (0r large measuring cup in our case), vanilla extract (optional), measuring spoon, mixing bowl and mixing utensil…
You combine all of the wonderful ingredients per the instructions….and then you wait….until the chocolate has cooled to just the right temperature (a thermometer strip is included with the kit)….before adding the final ingredients…while you are waiting the kit includes 2 cocoa beans…you can taste test chocolate in it’s rawest form… and then you will probably be glad cocoa bean met sugar….and gave us Chocolate as we know it.
Once your chocolate mixture has cooled….portion the chocolate mixtures into the cups and refrigerate….then wah-la….you have made homemade chocolate cups! (Little Brother was awake for the taste testing)
How where they? Well if you like dark chocolate, then I think these will be right up your ally.
The kit was super fun!
